Fortified churches in Transylvania
Today we propose you a trip into the heart of Transylvania. One of the gems of the land beyond the forests are the fortified churches built by the German origin settlers during 13 and 14th centuries.
In Prejmer the local community built some of the most interesting of the fortified churches in this part of Europe. In 1200 the Hungarian king allow the Teutonic knights to built fortifications inside Transylvania. Here at Prejmer they start building the church which was later on continue by the locals in Gothic style.
A particularity of this fortification is given by the fact that each family owned it´s own room within the walls. The local families and the guilds were in charge with maintaining the fortification in good shape and defend it during sieges. The rooms had the house number and where suppose to host grains and meat all year long. On every new season the food reserve was freshened. Being not far from Brasov, Prejmer is a nice destination for those passing by or overnight in the area, the National Road 10 is the one who overpass the Carpathians from Brasov to Buzau.

The recipe was simple: one bed, one chair, one plate, one cup and one spoon. The couple who intended to separate after days or weeks of forces cohabitation finish by remaining together for the rest of their life. The success rate is impressive: 3 divorces in 800 years.

Not far away, at Valea Viilor you can find another masterpiece of the German locals. In here the village gathered together and built in 14th century a well fortified Evangelical church. Here you have the chance to meet an old lady keeper who is happy to give you the keys of the defending tower. From up there a nice view opens to the village. The area around the village was famous for its vineyards, from here the village name: Vineyards Valley. Only 6 km from Copsa Mica on local road the village worth a stop.
Those are some of the most interesting places to see in Transylvania, an area full of surprises both for the foreigners and for Romanians. The fall in the hilly region in the middle of Romania offers you wonderful scenery. Come and see for yourself!

Nera Gorges
In western Romania there is one of the least known mountainous regions in the Romanian Carpathians. Banat Mountains are keepers of exceptional natural wealth.
One of the major axis of the Romanian Banat mountain tourism is the Nera River valley. Over a length of 18 km Nera pierce Anina Mountains and forms the boundary between them and Locvei Mountains. The area was explored since Roman times when soldiers have built an access road at the west end of the gorges. This road was dotted with several tunnels designed to bind ore exploitation of the access road to the Danube valley.

With a mild climate and influential sub-Mediterranean sensitive area Nera host rare species of birds and plants in Romania. During spring the intrepid forests are likely to cross the wild lilac. In summer hiking you should be careful where you step. In rocky areas sunbathing whose horned viper snakebite can be fatal.
From Sopotu Nou tourist path follows the river through meadows and locals gardens. Soon the rocky areas are surrounding the watercourse. Using fragile bridges to cross water whirling overhead. Not long after you arrive at Devil's Lake. It is the largest karst lake in Romania with a depth of over 9 meters. Here is a good resting place for those who cross both keys down and for those who choose that way by rafting boats. Further tourist route becomes increasingly challenging. Besides escalating water crossings by limestone slopes is a challenge. With cables installed in areas hardest journey to succeed in an area called Damian Canton. This officially ends Nera Gorges but not the beauties of the National Park. Nera receives on the right side as tributary river Beiul stream. Continuing its valley enchanting forest road through the woods to a magnificent forest. Forest road continued up the river and after about an hour's hike to reach Ochiul Beiului Lake. This is a lake fed by the river kerst origin Bei through impressive fall in the rainy season the water with breathtaking beauty - the famous Beusnitei Watrefall.

To reach Spopotul Nou must follow National Road 58B connecting Cerna Valley to Oravita and continue on a local road to Stancilova. Following this local road over the mountain you can reach to Sasca Montana. In the village Carbunari the Roman road built about 2000 years ago is still used. For Sasca Montana north access is on Route 57 descending from Oravita to Danube Valley to Moldova Veche.

Sibiu - Transylvania's Capital
Today we propose an urban destination in beautiful Romania.
At the foot of the Fagaras Mountains is a wonderful area crossed by the river Olt. Not far from where the river changes direction south, the river Cibin was born around 1200 current city of Sibiu. One of the legends about the foundation of the town said that a German shepherd named Herman asked the group leader of the settlers to give him to a patch of ground covered only by the skin of an ox. Head and agreed and shepherd cut the ox skin into strips so narrow and managed to surround a large area. The remaining colonists seeing sharp minded Herman's decided to stay with in this place he got.

During middle ages Sibiu was part of the seven cities of Transylvania, called Siebenburghen (seven cities). Being located near the Olt Valley, near the border with Wallachia and always threatened by Turkish invasions, Sibiu easily grew as one of the best fortified cities of Eastern Europe. The maximum fortifications in the 18th century makes Sibiu be the second fortified city of the Austrian- Hungarian Empire, after Vienna.

The most important sights of the city are: Large Square, Small Square, Tower Hall, Brukenhal Museum, Evangelical Cathedral, Orthodox Cathedral, ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, Stairs Passage and Liars Bridge. The latter is the first iron bridge built in Romania and derives its name from a series of legends. The most famous is of the young soldiers that lied their girlfriends that they marry them after completing military service.
Here are some of the events in the history of Sibiu:
* 1292 - the first hospital in Romania is open;
* 1380 - is the first school in Romania;
* 1494 - the first pharmacy in Romania is established;
* 1551 - comes first experiment with rockets realized of Conrad Hass;
* 1788 - the first theater in Romania is established;
* 1871 - The first museum is established in Romania (Brukenthal National Museum )
* 1928 - are set up first zoo in Romania.

SPA - BAILE HERCULANE
Having unique natural conditions in Europe from which we mention the air ionization that allows you at an altitude of 168 meters to breath a thin air with the same characteristics of a 3000 meters. Trip to St. George canal - Danube Delta’s miracle

From Tulcea you leave behind in the main city promenade with millennial history. Former Aegyssus, first mentioned in the 8th century BC, known to decay over time is related to the evolution and expansion of this wonderful Earth, water is the Danube delta.
At the end of a journey of 2860 kilometers Danube, "King River" as the Romans called it flows into the Black sea. Being the second largest river in Europe after the Volga, the main direction of flow of the Danube river is the West - East.
On its way the big river hits the Dobrogea region, an ancient part of Europe and so is forced to change direction north eventually finding a good place to head to the Black Sea.
With geological and geographical evolution as complex as it is questionable, Delta is the newest territory of Europe and is in constant expansion.

Initially, at the first bifurcation Danube divides into two main branches: Chilia - which flows north and Tulcea that continue south. At the second fork the dig Tulcea canal loses its greatness, Sulina canal, havely man modified continue east and St. George starts to southeast cozy choosing a road with many bends and elbows.
Bordering north Dobrogea plateau, first sector of Sf Gheorghe leave Bestepe dominated by hills with a maximum altitude of 243 meters. Traces of ancient earthworks in the past use genuine vine cultivation leads us to think of the importance of this region colonized by the ancient Greeks first.
The first village encountered Nufarul recipes, old Prislava keep strong fortifications in the Middle Ages and forever Greek buildings with murals. The village is less significant now and hope for a revival fishing based tourism.

The charm of this canal of the Danube is given by the rich forests of poplar and willow bordering both sides let his land than what you hide. Sandy shores are erodate every passing ship. Amateur fishermen sit all summer waterfront have serious competition from egrets.
Old streams and canals were gradually systematized and today is hard to rebuilt the natural course of the river. Mahmudia sectional median is the main town of St. George's canal. Here, with the advantage of access self developed important tourist complexes 3 and 4 star. Not far from the village there are Salsovia Roman ruins, destroyed in the 4th century AD.
An old Danube bend was cut in the 20th century to navigation greasy. Uzlina elbow separates from the main mystery, taking a west northwest direction. Increasingly large and forests canal guard get you thinking about huge rivers of Siberia. Somewhere in this area there is the former residence of communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Murighiol village lies on the ruins of the former Roman city Halmyris and today is one of the main places of access to water territory. Soon all traces of civilization left behind, two large islands pierce the river becomes spiral cleaner.

Due to the massive amounts of silt brought each year by the river cancel in 19th century started taking birth a small islands archipelago what today is stretching on more than 19 km - Sakhalin Islands.

Off the village of St. George is spending a rare phenomenon in which waves are driven by powerful river and they break away to sea. A resort is available for tourists who can stay in hostels and agritourism location. Every summer, for a month, a leading independent film festival takes place at Saint George - do not miss it!
The best months to visit the Danube Delta are May and September to October when the weather is good and you have the chance to see the most birds without being attacked by billions of mosquitoes.
